Ho Chi MinhHo Chi Minh was born 1890. His father was a nationalist and taught his children to resist the rule of the French. Ho Chi Minh grew up a committed to a nationalist ideology and was willing to fight for Vietnamese independence.
Ho CHi Minh, was a cook on a ship and travelled around Africa, the United States and then France. It was during this time that he developed his socialist and nationalist ideologies. Ho discovered that Vietnam was not the only country to suffered from exploitation while under colonial rule. Eventually Ho Chi Minh converted to communism and helped form the French Communist party. Ho Chi Minh was greatly inspired by the Russian Revolution and while staying in the Soviet Union, he wrote to a friend saying that all communists duties were to: “make contact with the masses to awaken, organise, unite and train them, and lead them to fight for freedom and independence” |
